The wisent game preserve has an area of 140 hectares with enough space for 12 wisents (bisons). More than 120 of these creatures have been raised in the preserve to date. The Bison Park is located north of the village of Lovce, about 10 kilometres from Topoľčianky. It was founded in 1958 with the aim of preserving wisents, which were being threatened with extinction.
The wisent is the biggest mammal in Europe. The largest animal reaches a height of two meters and a length of three meters, weighing around 1,500 kilograms. Presently it lives only in protected areas.
In 2008, a forest nature trail was opened around the entire preserve, with length of 2,500 meters and rising 40 meters. The entire circuit is complemented with information panels with interesting information about surrounding nature.
